Purchased this set in June of 08 after having owned 2 other Samsung lcd sets.I have had no problems with any of them and the picture is excellent in all respects but now the bad.Last week this 52nch set started stutering when turned on and was in obvious trouble no warning, set just started having trouble turning on.I called Samsung and they immediatly told me they would send someone to repair it as they were aware of the problem and knew it was a bad power unit. Some research on the net reveals that Samsung sets have a known power unit problem and there has been no recall. If this set had of held on for another 3 weeks I would have been out of guarantee, and the repair would have cost me in excess of $400.00.I still am pleased with the set when it works right, but not pleased with Samsungs business ethics in letting these sets run until the guarantee runs out, so the consumer has to bear the expense of a bad manufacturing process.I now question if the power unit that is being installed will just last another few months, then I will have to pay for another repair, or will the replacement unit be a redesigned one that I will get a normal lifetime out of. Only time will tell. Given the problems source Samsung should extend the guarantee on the power unit for at least 5 years.
Repair guy mentioned this was a common problem with Samsung LCD's.Now 15 months after my purchase the TV no longer will turn on. I shelled out over $3,000 for this TV in Jan of 08. What a great picture when it works. Just sits there and clicks over and over again.Checked the Internet and this too seems to be a common problem with Samsung LCD's. A few months later the screen started to fail with more pixles dying each day. Samsung sent out a repairman and replaced the screen. Something to do with cheap capacitors.I called Samsung and they say "sorry, it's out of warranty" call a repair shop.Give me a freaking break. This TV cost more than my first car and it only lasted 15 months.Shame on you Samsung for producing such an unreliable tv and poor customer service.
I enjoyed this set while it lasted. The tech says it would be cheaper to buy a new one. Picture was amazing. It failed one month after the warranty expired. Bummer. I paid $2700 for it.
I purchased from Amazon and it was a pleasure working with them. I have been so impressed with it. This is indeed a great TV. This was a big purchase and I was worried about purchasing from an online store but they made it a breeze. This is by far the best TV I have ever owned. The images are shocking they are so real. Hope this helps. Enjoy.
Best LCD TV I have ever owned. I was amazed as to the ease of setup and functionality with the peripheral equipment.
